About the Role & Team

As the Veterinary Practice Manager, you will be an integral member of the Animal Health leadership team, leading the Veterinary / Laboratory Technician Team for Disney’s Animal Kingdom (DAK), Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge (DAKL), and Tri Circle D Ranch, and providing additional support for the Seas with Nemo and Friends (Epcot). You will work closely with the other leaders and team members to provide excellent animal care, and ensure efficient and effective function of the Animal Health operation.

In this full-time, on-site, role, you will be reporting to the Veterinary Operations Manager.

What You Will Do

  • Lead all aspects of the DAK Hospital operation, including safety, inventory, equipment maintenance and purchase, and regulatory compliance

  • Lead the DAK veterinary and laboratory technicians, supporting cast in their professional development, holding regular team meetings and one on ones to help develop team performance

  • Presence in the operation daily to coordinate and problem solve, assist front line cast whenever vital, and partner with leaders and teams from Husbandry, Behavioral Husbandry team, Animal Nutrition, Water Sciences, Operations, Safety Services, Facilities, outside vendors, and more

  • Participate in and promote the Animal Health team's guest experiences

The Institute is building a large Aquatics Core Facility that maintains several thousand tanks of research fish for multiple principal investigators, requiring highly specialized aquatics husbandry and functions. In addition to this facility, many smaller facilities for zebrafish and other aquatic species are maintained independently on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus.
