The Veterinarian will be responsible for working with an extensive variety of marine and terrestrial species, with particular emphasis on aquatic animals and island wildlife, zoological medicine and animal welfare. In addition, Veterinary duties may include attending to occasional wildlife rescue cases, advising on any necessary husbandry practices, diagnostics, and treatments, including prescribing and administering medications as appropriate.
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
Qualified veterinarian licensed to practice in the Cayman Islands. This will require veterinary licensure in North America, the UK, USA, Canada, Jamaica, Barbados, and Trinidad & Tobago.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience related to veterinary medicine of exotic species.
Excellent health and physical condition. Strong swimming skills. SCUBA diving certification preferred though not essential.
Good understanding and experience of animal behaviour, husbandry, and welfare, especially reptiles and birds, as well as other wildlife.
Availability and ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Ability to organize workload and prioritize tasks.
Strong multicultural leadership and influencing skills.
Ability to communicate with, motivate, and work alongside Cayman Turtle Centre staff to build an effective team.
Ability to develop and motivate a team of volunteers and/or student interns.
Ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences in both verbal and written forms.
Ability to provide and support a vision and direction for the welfare of CTC animals.
First Aid certification (to the level required by management).
Computer skills (familiarity with ZIMS desirable).

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are on a rotational schedule from Monday to Sunday, 7AM - 4PM or as per the required schedule according to business needs. Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and starting salary will be in the range of Grade:H $87,444 – $114,768 per annum.
