Directs and oversees the work of the Veterinary and laboratory team. The Director works closely with other levels of management throughout the resort to better understand and effectively manage team-based goals and philosophies while maintaining high levels of guest quality and satisfaction. The Director plans, directs, trains, and participates in the health care of Atlantis’ marine animals. Establishes and conducts effective quarantine and testing procedures for all incoming animals to ensure the health of the collection, prevent the spread of disease, and comply with all local government regulations. Plans and conducts regularly scheduled preventative care programs to maintain the health of the animals and guard against communicable diseases. The Director participates with other personnel in planning and executing nutrition, quarantine, and reproductive programs. This position cooperates with other zoo and aquarium personnel to exchange information concerning the care of animals.
Experience Required
Must possess the ability to successfully implement and manage a complete veterinary medical program. Perform clinical procedures, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and surgery as required. Proficient at reading and understanding water quality analysis. Demonstrate a strong knowledge of the biology, husbandry, and medicine of exotic (non-domestic) animals in captivity. Ability to conduct applied clinical research and to present research findings at conferences and in peer-reviewed journals. Ability to teach and explain complex medical procedures to the staff. Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from an accredited institution Must hold and maintain a valid veterinary license In Dubai; must be (or become) registered under the provisions of section 5 of the Veterinary Surgeons Act
